It may be that it appreciates the extra moisture for the roots from the thick clump. I
would never have considered growing it in sphagnum. At a recent show and tell
meeting I saw another grower who had bought some Den. bracteosum alba seedlings
from the same source and at the same time as I had a couple of years ago. Her plant
is now three times as tall far more robust and carrying five times as many flowers
as mine.
